Is Jobin.cloud a better alternative to SourceWhale?

SourceWhale, like Jobin.cloud, does email automation with some ChatGPT support and has some CRM features and lead importing capabilities. Sourcing and Profiling are better on Jobin.cloud but both products are great time saver for any recruiter and professional who needs to communicate on a large scale.

  1. The most relevant difference is that in Jobin.cloud you have both automatic LinkedIn and email messaging capabilities and in SourceWhale you automate email and SMS (currently in beta for US & Canada).
SourceWhale does not want to get involved with any LinkedIn ToS so it's messaging is not automated, you are with a box hovering on the profile which lets you copy the message and paste it manually into the LinkedIn message box one by one.
  2. The second difference is that SourceWhale provides profiles of prospects with basic information such as name, location, role and company.
Jobin.cloud, on the other hand, sources and manages full-bio Profiles with career history, skills, achievements, interests and everything you commonly find in a resume or CV.
This is because Jobin.cloud was born to serve the recruiting industry and includes powerful search, filters and AI ranking system which are not considered in SourceWhale.
This is something to keep in mind, because with SourceWhale you need an external tool to be able to find, search and pre-screen people ("candidates" in this case) and select who to contact.

SourceWhale claims to be "the only platform recruiting teams need to execute their daily recruiting activities" and they are doing great marketing promising you a great experience.
However SourceWhale is primarily just a good email automation tool.

In comparison Jobin.cloud has more advanced sourcing, filtering, ranking, and pipeline management capabilities, on top of automated outreach via email and LinkedIn (direct messages, inMails and also connection requests) powered by ChatGPT integration with multiple customisable prompts making use of all available data from Candidate Profiles and from Job Descriptions.
Furthermore, Jobin.cloud is planning to add even more ATS and CRM features to offer a real, comprehensive, and expandable all-in-one service experience.

SourceWhale pricing and Sales approach

SourceWhale has decided to rely on their sales representatives to sell you during the product demos. This is coupled with the fact that SourceWhale keeps all prices hidden 🙄

In other words, if every sale requires a dedicated salesman to proceed, then costs are high enough to warrant the sales team's salary.

In fact, SourceWhale doesn't disclose its pricing. The trial period is given as a bonus for a sale which, however, after negotiation, is always above £2500 British pounds per year (~$3200/US dollars annually).

Beyond that, you should consider whether you need to purchase some additional software tools or pay for external services to get your contact list. This is because you don't get any sourcing options from SourceWhale.

Jobin.cloud takes a different approach, providing a functional Free Forever plan, together with a 14-day trial to test one or more premium solutions.
The prices for each module is openly displayed, furthermore, you can pick exactly which modules best suit your current business needs, providing you with the most cost-effective pricing approach possible. Sometimes updates aren't even needed if your requirements are basic and you can go with the Free plan.
Jobin.cloud offers total transparency and flexibility to buy only what you really need. You can see for yourself and make your own informed purchase decision without the psychological pressure given by salespeople.

Operational differences

SourceWhale parses 10 LinkedIn profiles at a time, which may take some time if you want to import a few hundred prospects.
The Jobin.cloud browser expansion is capable of importing up to 1000 profiles from a LinkedIn free search result list and up to 2500 profiles with Sales Navigator (which are the LinkedIn's limit, by the way).

SourceWhale puts mail sequences and "projects" at the center of the process and leads lists will be inserted into these, tracking is done exclusively through the lead's progress in the project, and you can't customize what to track outside of SourceWhale's presets.
In Jobin.cloud's case, the focus is on people's profiles and then you have a list of "outreach campaigns" to apply to them, and/or a Job pipeline (which you can both fully customize) to further track exactly which step of the workflow you're interested in.
In Jobin.cloud they are called "Contacts" and for each of your contacts you have a persistent history of the messages sent in one or more campaigns, as well as any other interaction and system operation that took place with that person
All in a single comprehensive event timeline of the Contact, on top of having additional campaigns and Job pipelines with their own Contact tracking.
This is more like a CRM or ATS system.

This different approach is also confirmed by the high level of segmentation, filtering and ranking of your Contacts within Jobin.cloud, while in SourceWhale the management of leads is relatively very limited and filtering is also reduced to the minimum necessities for writing to the contact, but not enough to properly know and track the contact.

Lead List

At SourceWhale, audience management for campaigns is a process of importing lists from an external source and exporting to your favorite ATS or CRM. This data transfer is not necessary in Jobin.cloud because everything is already integrated.

In Jobin.cloud you import profiles directly by expanding the list of your contacts within Jobin.cloud itself. You can increase the list in multiple rounds and clear the list progressively. Management of multiple custom pipelines, tags, annotations and any type of filtering is also available, with all the data to also automate screening and ranking of a contact, as well as multi-channel outreach to selected prospects.
You can perform multiple imports from different sources, including LinkedIn groups, events, post interactions, or from several internet resources via Google X-Ray searches and from CSV files.
You can let Jobin.cloud take care of de-duplication and data merging. Then, you'll be able to perform searches and filtering within Jobin.cloud itself to prepare your best list.
You don't need to rely on buying external data.

Email sequencing

SourceWhale has an email sequence generator where you define a list of messages to send with a customizable delay between them.
You can also provide two message templates for each step so that the system will test the performance of both to decide which one is better. This A/B testing will provide statistics, so you will be able to decide how to modify your messaging and use that information.

You can also add SMS steps (currently in beta for US & Canada) and LinkedIn and phone call reminders that you'll manually have to perform.

In Jobin.cloud you can manage email sequences, but also send LinkedIn messages, InMails and connection requests, all automatically, using your own personalized message at scale.

These are not simple messaging sequences: in Jobin.cloud you also have several possible conditional checks involving the tags you have given to each Lead or their reaction to the message itself. Then, you also have the possibility to set up and auto-assign stages within your custom pipeline.

The level of flexibility in building your outreach campaign, managing tagging and pipeline stages in Jobin.cloud is definitely higher ⭐

Hence, Jobin.cloud gives you the option to have a simple linear messaging sequence or even a branched drip sequence that can take different paths depending on to the recipient's circumstances and behavior.

    For instance:
  • Check if this person is your first connection on LinkedIn
  • If TRUE: send a given LinkedIn message,
  • If FALSE: send a personalized LinkedIn connection request,
  • If the person accepts your LinkedIn invitation, set a tag to the profile.
  • If the person replies to message, change their stage within the custom pipeline in use,
  • Otherwise wait for 2 days and send a second LI message.
  • If no LinkedIn reply in 4 days, send an email instead'.
  • ...and so on with any message, delays or profile setting you think opportune
  • Template personalization

The smart fields or modifiers you can use to create your message templates are richer than usual in both products.

In fact, both in Jobin.cloud and SourceWhale you can mention prospect's achievements, and other personalization options.

SourceWhale also has something like "time of the day" and a tool that allows you to compose custom images with text on them that can be attached to your messages to make them much more engaging. The customization of that is excellent, and such images are more engaging than plain text.

In both product there is the support from ChatGPT to create personalized messaging.
In Jobin.cloud, however, the application of the multiple prompt and its enrichment is envisaged by making use of the data coming from the Candidate Profile and the selected Job Description. This can be done automatically at scale and produces different messages relevant to each different prospect or candidate on your list.

    Throttling

Both SourceWhale and Jobin.cloud have throttling systems to set daily sending limits and the frequency of sent messages per minute.
This is very important in order not to activate the smart internet systems of Google and other service providers that detect spamming repetitive mass message and ultimately may damage your IP and your domain reputation on the internet, thus compromising your brand name.

Throttling control is very important in the case of LinkedIn operations.

Jobin.cloud tells you default settings to keep your activity below safe thresholds. However, in many cases, you can adjust these settings to suit your needs if you know what you're doing.
In Jobin.cloud you also have a kind of feedback "sensors" that help you find the appropriate setting values, depending on the circumstances of your specific account and current usage. This is a welcome security feature.

    Smart inbox

SourceWhale does not offer a smart inbox.
In Jobin.cloud the smart inbox is also available in the "Starter" plan, and it is very useful to browse previous messages and continue to interact with your prospects with all the data on display, including the profile of your prospect 😎

In Jobin.cloud this is called "Interactions Timeline" because it contains all messaging interactions sent and received via LinkedIn and via Emails and also includes any system operations and pipeline movements that occurred during the Prospect's journey.

From that "Interactions Timeline" found in Jobin.cloud you also have the possibility to see the profile of your prospect and overall this gives you a really complete overview of the situation. At this point the box you have at the bottom is very useful as it will allow you to edit a new message and send it immediately.
Overall the experience and functionality of this interface is excellent.

    Reporting

In both products you will find advanced analytics with crucial metrics and conversion rates of your messages along the pipeline.

On the SourceWhale campaign reports page, you will see how many people have reacted to your message (i.e. replied) but being campaign-centered you don't see that list of people, but just a statistic from the campaign.

In Jobin.cloud you have both an overview of campaign performance and the status of an individual participant.

For each campaign you can extract the list of people at each stage to analyze and take action.

In Jobin.cloud you will be able to see each group of people participating in your campaign and who is at each particular stage of your campaign. So will allow you to browse the list of people who have replied, people who have ignored the message, and so on.
Again, this is because Jobin.cloud is people-centric and focuses on relationship building, so, you'll have the option to select that sub-list of people and send a specific new message dedicated to that particular situation of theirs. For example all the people who answer: "Interesting, I would like to have more information".

Subsequently, for each individual participant, you will be able to view the current status and perform specific operations such as removing him from the automatic campaign, annotating or tagging the profile and possibly sending a manual message of your choice.

    Team Collaboration

Both Jobin.cloud and SourceWhale can handle team collaboration on some projects. At Jobin.cloud these are called "WorkGroups" and different members can pool their efforts to create a unified list of leads and share work to nurture and convert common prospects. In Jobin.cloud this will also be available in the "Starter" plan for only $16.99.
SourceWhale doesn't reveal the price for it 🙄

SourceWhale can detect duplicate profiles, but does not safeguard against duplicating leads among team members. This is quite annoying because in a team environment, you can end up sending the same message sequence to a prospect from two different team members.
The external preparation of your lists in SourceWhale must be very careful using an appropriate external tool (i.e. a CRM).

Life is easier using Jobin.cloud because the prospect list can be shared between different team members without overlapping and duplication problems of profiles or even with regards to messaging.
As noted earlier, at Jobin.cloud you focus on "people" and not "campaign" and a list of leads to convert.

At SourceWhale team messaging is independent, so when you talk to a common prospect, you don't know what your colleague has previously written to him/her aside from knowing what sequences they've been added to.
In Jobin.cloud, if two team members are in the same workgroup, they share the inbox for common contacts so it's much easier to avoid the risk of repeating information, asking twice or contradicting team communications.
Removing the need to waste time updating your colleagues on the status and details of any conversation with a prospect.

Confidentiality management is managed simply by creating various appropriate "Workgroups" where one enters by invitation.

    Conclusions:

SourceWhale is good for managing email sequences, and Jobin.cloud is better when you want to use both email and LinkedIn messaging.

Jobin.cloud maintains a full-profile database at ATS/CRM level that includes advanced filtering, ranking and pipelines workflow management. With SourceWhale more proper tracking relies on a good integration with external ATS/CRM software.

The sourcing features in Jobin.cloud are integrated with an advanced LinkedIn automation package and in SourceWhale sourcing is limited to a basic scraping tool used as a list builder.

In general, Jobin.cloud is better when you are interested in building long term relationships with your audience. In fact, Jobin.cloud is "people-centered" and it runs outreach campaigns as instruments to engage and convert.
SourceWhale is "campaign-centered" and there isn't much history to carry on for every single prospect.

Where the two products differ the most is the missing Free plan in SourceWhale, and the fact that you need to book a call with the SourceWhale sales representative to find out the pricing and activate a few days of trial.
Jobin.cloud has a fully functional free plan and gives you a 14-day free trial of any solution upgrade you might need during your use of Jobin.
This modularity in the Jobin.cloud's pricing system is a big money saver 🤑 because you can upgrade only the features you really need and you can do it regardless of the main core features that will always be available.

Jobin.cloud is a better Source Whale alternative
